Who’s the best team on the indie scene? You tell us. Every week, three of New York City’s top indie improv teams converge onstage to see who can deliver the best fully improvised show. The champ is chosen solely by the audience vote so the future’s in your hands! The winning team will come back the following week to defend their title and after three wins, they head off to the big show: Cage Match at UCB Chelsea, the OG of improv competitions. Brother Moses was founded in 2014 at the University of Arkansas by high­ school classmates and college dorm mates James Lockhart and Moses Gomez. Soon after meeting percussion student Michael Seck, the trio began hauling all of their gear, on foot, under cover of darkness, to meet once weekly in a basement rehearsal space that they weren’t technically allowed to use, all so that they could practice for the University Battle of the Bands ­ which they lost. Undeterred, as soon as the school’s dorm­only living policy expired at the end of their freshman year, the band moved into what they dubbed "e Farm", iny house at the edge of campus with a converted­garage studio space, named for its comically large backyard. Lockhart and Gomez spent the summer sweltering in the garage space, recording sweat­soaked demos (the decades­old air conditioning at The Farm was no match for the relentless Arkansas summer) that would end up evolving into an EP, anks for All Your Patience, released independently in March 2015. MHYSA is a Queer Black Diva and underground popstar for the cyber resistance from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Her debut album, fantasii, was released through Halcyon Veil on July 21, 2017 to glowing reception, and a live audio-visual experience touring North America will soon follow. Of fantasii, MHYSA says: "This debut album is an epic poem, like a reverse Dante’s Inferno, where I take the listener higher, upward through my hopes, dreams, inspirations, and desires. It represents my love for Black women and femmes, as the stories are all told from our perspectives." Her debut EP, Hivemind, was released in February of 2016. In addition to her own productions, MHYSA’s experimental approach to dance music and RnB shines through in her highly sought-after THOT FANTASY mix series. THOT FANTASY mixes have been commissioned for luminary platforms like DIS Magazine and GHE20G0TH1K, highlighting MHYSA’s deep connections to the queer art, music and fashion scene of NY. In winter of 2016, she was listed in Artforum’s "Best of 2016: Music" and in February of 2017, she shared the stage with Yves Tumor, GAIKA, James Ferraro and Bill Kouligas in New York.

American Nomads Musicians Walter Kenul and Dante DeLemos, along with lyricist Richard Humann founded the band American Nomads. The songs that they write and perform are in the American Roots style of music. They have worked together on numerous musical projects, including their most recent band before the founding of American Nomads, DRW, that from 2010 to 2015 released two full-length albums and two singles. American Nomads is comprised of musicians Walter Kenul on lead vocals and keyboards, Dante DeLemos on lead vocals and guitar, Susan Darmiento on lead and background vocals, Joseph Humann on harmonica and percussion, George LaGrange on guitar and background vocals, Joe Conoscenti on drums, Jay Rivera on bass and background vocals, and Gerald Menke on pedal steel Guitar. Their song, "A Revelation’s Gonna Come" climbed to #6 on the Billboard AC chart, with over 40,000 national and international radio plays, and passed the first round of Grammy nominations for Best American Roots Single 2016. DANTE NO ES ÚNICAMENTE SEVERO is one of the most important films from the radical 1960s Catalan filmmaking movement known as the Barcelona School. An impossible sentimental relationship becomes a base from which to discuss the possibilities of narrative construction. This collaborative film shows how history can be recontextualized by collective demand through a drastic reinvention of aesthetics.
